Luis is one I admire so much / Laurie Dreier (another Meningitis Angel's mom )
I have always been so touched by Luis' story of such courage and determination in the face of such adversity. I know he has left a great legacy for his sons. I think of them, and all of you, who go on each day missing Luis so much.
Luis is such a handsome young man and it is easy to see all the love in your family. I know this has been such a difficult year. I also know the days right after the first anniversary of his Heaven Day are tough because just when you thought you would never get through all those "firsts" without him, comes the realization that this will go on and on.
I figure our son, Jacob, who was also taken very quickly by that horrible illness, and Luis have met and become friends in heaven. Most of all, as much as this horrible illness took from us, I bet you are like us in that you don't want that to be the only thing that is remembered about Luis. Luis is a great young man!
Our boys lived lives full of love for family and friends and accomplished many things that we are so proud of. Those are the things we remember and cherish. We won't let that horrible illness take any more from us than it already has as we give honor to the great lives they lived on earth and the glory of their wonderous eternal lives in heaven. Heaven has won! Not meningitis.
